This is not thejohnsonshow.com, no…

This is just a tribute.

Whoever was camping out on thejohnsonshow.com let it lapse, so I’ve snagged it and pointed it at The Johnson Show 2008 gallery, restoring continuity to links for anyone looking to relive that day.  I may flesh out something a bit more substantial, scraping together various forum accounts of the day and whatever the Wayback Machine has picked up into a coherent historical record.

New Look

I’ve changed the layout again. The site has forged its own identity apart from the ring. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to change the layout so all the resources are equally accessible. Of course, a name change was required. Since I already have the domain WCVW, I figured “Water-Cooled Volkswagen World” fit perfectly. Hopefully, no one out there has a site by the same name – if you know of one, let me know.

December Stats

I’m sure you’re all sitting on the edge of your seats in anticipation of the December stats. Ok, I’m not fooling anybody. Anyhow, the ring homepage was viewed roughly 1100 times in December. 17500 people browsed member pages and the the ring code was clicked on 1300 times.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new home of The Water-Cooled Volkswagen Ring!

If you arrived here by any address other than http://www.wcvw.org please be sure to update your bookmarks, as I don’t know how long the redirect pages will last. This new address means that if we ever need to change hosts, there will be no need to change site ring codes or bookmarks.

Our new home isn’t the only thing that’s changed! The ring is leaving WebRing.org due to major changes being implemented by Yahoo (Yahoo acquired WebRing.org when it bought Geocities 2 years ago.) If you want more details, click here.

We are now using an open source CGI program called Ringlink. Ringlink is everything WebRing.org used to be, and better. It can’t be bought out and commercialized because it’s open source. More importantly, it runs on my server, so we have full control over any changes that will be made.

Ring Members: If you have not yet done so, click on Add a Site and re-submit your pages to the new software. Be sure to cut and paste the new ring code in place of the old. Also, review the guidelines in case they’ve changed since you’ve last read them.

Ring Visitors: Thanks for bearing with us as we make this unforseen transition.

Volkswagen Banner Exchange

If you’re looking for more exposure for your website, join the Volkswagen Banner Exchange (there’s a link for it underneath the banner near the bottom of this page, and directions on the banner’s homepage.) They let you choose what kind of banners you want which is kinda cool. If you need help making a banner or would like to make one for someone else , email me.
